Bad weather

In the event of severe weather it may be necessary to close the school. We will always endeavour to remain open but given the rural location of the school this is not always possible.

You can check whether the school is open or not by logging onto www.hertsdirect.org/ where you will be directed to a webpage which notifies you of the status of all schools in Hertfordshire.

In the event of severe weather we use a system run by Hertfordshire County Council called the Closure Notification System which allows us to alert you of the situation in school. Please use the following options to check whether or not the school is open:
 Check your emails as if it is at all possible the school will send a School Gateway message as this can be done from home. However, their system does get busy during such occasions and messages may not get through immediately. 
Check the school website (www.furneuxp.herts.sch.uk) as we will endeavour to post a message. You will also find a link to the Herts Direct Closure Notification site on the Parents’ Information tab.
Visit www.hertsdirect.org where you will be directed to a webpage which notifies you of the status of the school.
Tune in to BBC Three Counties Radio (103.8FM / 95.5FM) or Heart FM (101.7 FM).
Receive messages about school closure by registering with:

Please do not contact staff directly as their telephones become tied up with incoming calls and it becomes difficult for the school office to contact them.
