Kingfisher Class
Kingfisher Class
We have kick started the Summer term with a workshop from One Day Creative to explore some of the main features of the First World War. We have also welcomed a visiting homing pigeon called Flappy! He is making weekly visits to our class to help us learn about the unsung heroes of this great war. So far we have explored how communication has changed and had great fun writing telegrams and decoding secret messages.
We continue enjoying our writing sessions – this term we are using The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl as inspiration for our writing. We have written letters to persuade the Gregg family to stop hunting and had interesting discussions about the pros and cons of hunting. Many of our sessions have involved drama, helping the children to get into role and empathise with the characters.
We had loads of fun on Friday 5th May when we celebrated King Charles’ coronation. We designed cards for the king and a stamp to ,mark this occasion. We all role played the ceremony after watching footage of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation and enjoyed a whole school picnic!
